Resources for Providers
As noted in the Practice Areas page, the scope of my current practice is defined by the provision of assessment and treatment services for adults with neurologic illness, injury, and disability.
Because I focus on specific practice areas, there are certain types of referrals I do not typically accept. For example, I may provide clinical services to individuals after an occupational injury or motor-vehicle accident. However, I do not accept medico-legal referrals (i.e., situations where the assessment is specifically needed by a lawyer to document an injury for personal injury claims). Likewise, I do not accept criminal-legal referrals (e.g., questions of competence to stand trial). Finally, I do not accept psychoeducational referrals (e.g., evaluation of learning disability or autism). If you have a client who needs such an assessment, you could search the BC Psychological Association’s Referral Service, which contains a list of local providers organized by practice specialty.
The BC Psychological Association’s recommended hourly rate for registered psychologists is $200 per hour. My rate is $190 per hour, which is consistent with most other psychologists in the local community. Note that the services of a registered psychologist tend not to be covered by MSP. Clients should be advised to contact their secondary health insurance provider to determine whether they have benefits to cover the services of a registered psychologist.
If you are unfamiliar with the scope of practice of registered psychologists providing neuropsychological services, I would refer you to this document by the Canadian Psychological Association. If you have a question about making a potential client referral, you are more than welcome to contact me by telephone to discuss the referral.
