Neuropsychological Assessment and Rehabilitation in Victoria, BC

Neuropsychological
Assessment and Rehabilitation

I am a registered psychologist in private practice offering neuropsychological assessment and treatment in Victoria, BC. I take an existential/humanistic approach to providing care.  I am interested in helping people make meaning and find purpose living through chronic illness, injury, and trauma. I believe that ultimately we are all on a journey toward wholeness and healing. It will be my privilege to be a part of your journey.

Areas of Practice

My main areas of practice focus on neuropsychological and psychological assessment and treatment of individuals with medical illness - particularly neurological illness and injuries. This includes (but is not limited to) brain injury, stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, cancer, and chronic pain. I also have a specialty focus on the intersection of trauma and health.

NEUROLOGICAL ILLNESS & Injury

When people suffer a concussion, stroke, or other form of neurological disorder such as Parkinson’s disease or brain tumor, they can experience an abrupt change in their cognitive and emotional functioning. Assessment and treatment can help you figure out what has changed, how to navigate to your “new normal”, and improve your quality of life.

MEDICAL ILLNESS & TRAUMA

Acute medical illness can act as a traumatic stressor for some people. Early life adversity can also be a risk factor for health problems, and make it difficult to cope when those health problems occur. A “whole brain” approach to treatment can help you understand some of the confusing symptoms of trauma, and learn how to thrive, not just survive.

LATE-LIFE Cognitive Decline
and OLDER ADULTHOOD

Some decline in our mental abilities is normal as we age. Assessment can help us determine, are the changes you are experiencing simply “normal aging”, or something more significant that requires monitoring and treatment? Late life is also a wonderful time to enter psychotherapy, to make peace and find closure with your life’s journey.
